Master Data¶
Master data is the foundational reference data that all transactional records in Knosc depend on. Items, suppliers, customers, warehouses, and units of measure must exist in master data before they can appear on purchase orders, sales orders, or inventory records.
Master Data Screens¶
| Screen | Description |
|---|---|
| Item Master | All items tracked in the system, active and inactive |
| Supplier Master | Supplier directory with location and contact information |
| Customer Master | Customer directory with ship-to address management |
| Warehouse Master | Warehouse locations and their planning status |
| Bill of Materials | Component mappings for manufactured items |
| External Items | Customer-specific item number mappings |
| Units of Measure | Unit definitions and conversion factors |
Required Privilege¶
Access to master data screens requires the Master Data privilege. Read-only access (View) allows browsing and exporting. Edit access allows creating, updating, and deleting records.
Contact your system administrator to request access adjustments.
Keeping Master Data Current¶
Master data can be maintained in two ways:
- Manual entry - create or edit records directly in the UI using the New and Edit forms
- Bulk upload - download the screen's template, fill it in, and upload via the Upload button
Changes to master data take effect immediately for all users. Newly added items become available for use on order screens as soon as the record is saved.
Warning
Deleting master data records that are referenced by open orders will fail. Archive or close the related orders before attempting to delete the master record.
