External Items¶
Navigation: Master Data → External Items
The External Items screen maps customer item numbers (external identifiers used by customers in their systems) to internal Knosc item numbers. This mapping is essential when customer orders or forecasts arrive with customer-specific item codes that differ from internal codes.
Purpose¶
When a customer order or forecast is imported, it often contains the customer's own item reference number. The External Items table tells Knosc which internal item number corresponds to each external code, enabling automatic mapping during integration processing.

Many-to-One Mapping¶
One internal item can have multiple external item numbers - for example, the same product sold to different customers under different codes, or the same customer using different codes for different packaging sizes that map to the same internal SKU.
